The cushions TZOTZIL and JOV are made in the Chiapas region where live a large number of Indians, at more than 2000 meters of altitude. A market located in San Cristobal de la Casa, brings together all the Mayans of this region who come from surrounding villages, donkey or horse, to offer fruits and vegetables, hunting products and textiles.
Each of the villages has their weaving style, however, the majority use looms with wooden pedals that were introduced to Mexico during the Spanish conquest between 1519 and 1521. These looms are still in working order they allow to make cushions.
A small gesture for these tributes
Today, different regions of Mexico have decided to combine the expertise of weavers in a cooperative offering them the opportunity to sell their creations.
These 800 weavers can thus perpetuate this art of weaving, sales represent 70% of the economic resources of these families of natives.
The cushions TZOTZIL and JOV, have the distinction of representing geometric shapes that refer to the symbols of Maya, their natural materials are very pleasant to the touch, thus offering a very good comfort. The blue ones, of a very beautiful intensity will bring color to your interiors!
