The JOV cushions are made in the Chiapas region where a large number of Indians live, at over 2000 meters altitude. A market located in San Cristobal de la Casa, brings together all the Mayans of this region who come from surrounding villages, donkey or horse, to offer fruits and vegetables, hunting products and textiles.
Each of the villages has their weaving style, however, the majority use looms with wooden pedals that were introduced to Mexico during the Spanish conquest between 1519 and 1521. These looms are still in working order they allow to make cushions.
